Silk Sarees
- Dry clean only recommended
- If hand washing, use cold water with mild detergent
- Never wring or twist
- Wash separately to prevent color bleeding
- Avoid direct sunlight for drying
Cotton Sarees
- Machine washable on delicate cycle
- Use cold water and mild detergent
- Mild colors may bleed – wash separately first time
- Iron while slightly damp on medium heat
- Store folded or rolled in muslin cloth
Organza Sarees
- Dry clean only
- Handle with care – organza is delicate
- Store in a cool, dry place
- Avoid contact with sharp accessories
- Use a cool iron with pressing cloth if needed
Banarasi / Kanjivaram
- Dry clean only – never home wash
- Store with zari-safe anti-tarnish paper
- Avoid contact with sweat and perfumes on zari work
- Air out after each use
- Roll (never fold) if possible to prevent crease lines
General Storage Tips
- Store sarees in breathable muslin or cotton bags – avoid plastic which traps moisture
- Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent color fading
- Add neem leaves or cedar balls to prevent pest damage
- Refold along different lines occasionally to prevent permanent crease marks
- Air out sarees periodically, especially silk ones, to keep them fresh
